Let it snow!

This weekend is the first time that Jonathan and I have been snowed in together -- the first two winters of our marriage were annoyingly precip-free.  We were definitely ready to get out a little when the roads finally became passable out here yesterday, but mostly we just enjoyed the slower pace of life.  Our big activities have been having the neighbors over for lunch, sledding, walking our bundled baby around the neighborhood, and of course taking pictures of David's first snowfall.

Thanks to everyone who has been patient with our rescheduling this week.  We hope to be back on track for K's session on Friday, assuming that the rain is really rain!

Baby D

We're recovering from a variety of ills at our house.  Hope the various bugs that are making the rounds haven't hit your home!

Loving this taste of spring in January and the luscious light that goes with it.

You gotta love heirloom toys.  This rattle belonged to my husband, who clearly used it well.

Smart Moms Referral Program

We're back from an extended Christmas vacation ferrying the little one from relative to relative, and I'm very excited about what we've got in store for 2010.

I am working on updating the website to include new work and to integrate the new logo that I love.  I just got my new business cards, and we're implementing a new referral program for 2010. There is no better advertising than your showing off images that you love, and we really appreciate your referring your friends to the studio, so...

When you place a print order, look for the new referral program cards that will follow -- you'll recognize them because they feature some of our favorite images from your last session.  For every new client who books a session using one of your referral cards, you may order a complimentary 8x10 from your next session.

And of course it's not a blog post without an image, so here is one of my favorites from Christmas.

Maternity Session

I had the best time shooting this maternity session.  J is a friend of two clients, and I so appreciate knowing that they referred her to me as she is starting her own family.

J&S are expecting little M in early 2010, and it's clear that there is a lot of love awaiting this little girl.  Let's just say that there is a fabulous pink crib in the nursery, and Dad has a Penn State-themed room with a pack and play set up and ready to go.

Thanks for checking out these images from their session.  Just in time for Christmas, comments from twenty different visitors in 48 hours = a special gift for J and S, so let us know what you think.

The images are small for efficient loading; click on them to see larger versions.

My New Favorite Photograph

I'm taking just a few photographs of my son.  This one is my current favorite -- my husband is soothing a fussy baby as we're all getting ready for bed (or carseat, as the case may be).

Very Special Newborn Shoot

I have waited a long time to be able to photograph my own newborn.  Thanks to amazing family and friends and great medical care (another Rex baby), I have really been enjoying these first few weeks with our son.

I have always considered it the best compliment to hear a mom say that I captured her child's true personality, but now that I am watching a little face grow and change every day, I really understand how priceless photographs that freeze little moments in time are.  Both the experience of making these images and the images themselves are moments that I will truly treasure forever.

So, before I get all teary-eyed, here are a few of D's first pictures.  Thank goodness for some warm October days that allowed us to take a few of these on the back deck, too.

For those looking to schedule a session, I am pleasantly surprised to be able to open a very limited number of sessions in late November and early December, in time to complete orders in time for Christmas.
